The snake is one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. 2025 is the Year of the Snake, a time associated with rebirth, change, and growth, with snakes being seen as symbols of good fortune, fertility, and wisdom.

In Japanese culture, the „hōju“ (宝珠), or wish-fulfilling jewel, is a sacred, spherical object, often found in Buddhist contexts, symbolizing blessings, the granting of wishes, and the expulsion of evil. On this chawan the white snake is pictured as a wish-fulfilling jewel.
